The Lords of Trevaunance
The Lives and Times of a Cornish Family
This book details the lives and times of the Tonkin family of St Agnes ‘The Lords of Trevaunance’ much of this book would not have been possible if it were not for the foresight of Thomas Tonkin (1678-1742). Thomas was one of the leading local historians of the time. Much of his work still survives including a detailed account of his family which was invaluable in the writing of this book. The sole aim of this book is purely my attempt to be the first (as far as I know) to write and publish a history of the Tonkin family of St Agnes, and to present it in a readable and interesting format. As I have also included various highlighted sections on the times our ancestors lived in, and various explanatory notes, comments etc regarding tracing ones family, I hope it may also appeal to a wider audience.

The Lives and Times of a Cornish Family has been reviewed on Lulu.com click here to see!
The book below, which I finished writing in 2006, can be bought as two individual books. The first book 'The lords of Trevaunance' deals with the oldest branch of the family (76 pages) The second book 'The Lives and Times of a Cornish Family' incorporates the first book plus a detailed version of my own branch and various other branches and stories related to the Tonkin family in general (225 pages) In order to get the lowest retail price I have had the book printed in different sizes and paper types from different companies. Of course overall the EBook versions are the cheapest, so perhaps it may be worth purchasing one of them first. Then if you like what you see, or indeed you find you are related to someone in the book, you could then, if you wish, order a hard copy. Whatever you decide I hope you enjoy! The EBook versions can be bought direct from this site and at an even more affordable price! Don't forget when clicking on the buy buttons you will leave this site, so if you haven't already done so add this site to your favorite list.
